About the Global Youth Development Forum

The Global Youth Development Forum (GYDF) was founded by Muhammad Hammad Shafiq with a clear and urgent purpose: to create a structured, youth-led international platform that bridges the academic and professional divide between regions — and does so at the speed and scale that modern youth deserve.

Our Origin

GYDF emerged from a simple observation: that a group of highly motivated, internationally connected young people brought together through a shared learning platform represented far more potential than a single cohort of students. They represented the nucleus of a global movement.
What began as a proposal within an international fellowship has grown into a formally structured forum with active national chapters across Africa, Asia, Central Asia, and Europe led entirely by young people who believe that academic excellence, leadership, and international collaboration should not be privileges reserved for the few.

Our Mission

To empower youth across borders through structured academic exchange, expert-led knowledge sharing, and formal leadership development building the next generation of globally connected leaders

Our Vision

A world where geography is no barrier to academic excellence where a student in Malawi has access to the same quality of expert knowledge, international exposure, and leadership development as a student in the United Kingdom.

How We Are Structured

GYDF operates under a clear two-tier structure:

  • The Global Core Administrative Team oversees the strategic direction of the forum, manages international affiliations, and coordinates between national chapters. This team includes the Founder, Co-Founder, General Secretary, and specialised department heads for Documentation, Information, Media, IT, Human Resources, and Events.
  • National Cabinets in each member country are led by a National President and supported by a Vice President, Secretaries, and Department Heads — creating a full, locally-led leadership structure that is connected to and guided by the Global Core.

All positions are held on a rotating tenure of 6 months to 1 year — ensuring that leadership opportunities are continuously available to new members, and that formal certification is available to every active contributor

Excellence

We are committed to the highest standard of academic content, professional conduct, and organisational quality in everything we do.

Inclusivity

GYDF is open to all young people regardless of background, nationality, or institution because great ideas and great leaders emerge everywhere.

Integrity

We operate transparently, communicate honestly, and hold our members and leaders to the same standards of conduct we expect from the world around us.

Collaboration

We believe that the best outcomes emerge from genuine cross-cultural, cross-border collaboration and we build every programme with that belief at its core
